Safer Internet Day

On Tuesday 5th February 2019 Crosby spent the whole day honouring 'Safer Internet Day 2019'. This is an annual national event held in order to raise our children's (and parents) awareness of the growing digital world - it's dangers and it's benefits.

Here at Crosby our mature 'Online Safety Committee' held an Assembly to kick start the day. They introduced this year's theme of 'Consent and Permission.'

In classes children were then able to explore different issues at an appropriate level for their age; from understanding permission in everyday situations (Class 1) through to knowing what things online we should say yes and no to (Class 4.)

On Friday The Committee represented their classes in 'Good Work' Assembly. They displayed the learning which had taken place earlier in the week to the whole school and to the parents.

Well done everyone for taking part in such an important day with maturity and enthusiasm.

Cystic Fibrosis

We are so proud of our Ayda in Class 1 this week. She has been in the newspaper; not just in Carlisle but also nationwide in the Daily Express.

Ayda has Cystic Fibrosis and she already takes so many different types of medicines every day. But there is a new drug Ayda's family are petitioning for - which is currently unavailable on the NHS. This new drug, Orkambi, could add a further 23 years to Ayda's life: which is simply astounding. However, the cost of this new drug is so great that the NHS currently does not provide it in our country.

PLEASE help Ayda and her family by signing the following petition. It only takes a couple of clicks and it really could change Ayda's life dramatically.

Science Day

Last week Class 1 were lucky enough to be visited by a real life scientist! Carrie came to show us some experiments including a volcano, colour changing liquids and popping containers! Nursery and Reception listened wonderfully to her instructions to test out other things including marshmallow pop guns, slimey ooblek and bubble snakes. The highlight for everyone was making their own slime - especially as they were allowed to take it home. A fantastic experience which the children loved.
